Biography
Rannel has over 20 years of experience in geotechnical engineering and engineering geology, with extensive experience across the mining, civil infrastructure and engineering consulting sectors in Africa and the Middle East. Her experience ranges from geotechnical site investigations and ground characterisation through to engineering assessment, design input, and the development of practical solutions for complex ground conditions.
As Practice Lead for Geotechnical Engineering, Rannel provides technical and strategic leadership to the geotechnical practice, overseeing the quality and delivery of services across a diverse portfolio of mining and infrastructure projects. Her role encompasses technical leadership, team development, client engagement, project delivery, and growth of the geotechnical practice.
Her experience includes mine infrastructure, waste rock dumps, process plants, foundations and excavations, as well as dams, water supply schemes, industrial and commercial developments, and linear infrastructure. She has particular expertise in geotechnical site characterisation, foundation engineering, slope stability, earthworks, and engineering materials.
Rannel holds an MSc in Civil Engineering (Geotechnical) and a BSc Honours in Engineering Geology, combining a strong understanding of ground conditions with practical geotechnical engineering experience.
